September 17, 2024The presentation of best practices in Europe regarding the implementation of policies and mechanisms to protect athletes in sports was one of the agenda items at the European GRASS project meeting held in Vic, Spain.
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Portugal, the project coordinator, was represented by Cristina Almeida and Joana Gonçalves at the meeting, which also addressed the definition of criteria for selecting grassroots sports clubs that will soon participate in the pilot project across the partner countries of GRASS (Slovenia, Bulgaria, Albania, and Portugal). The presentation of the structure for the online self-assessment tool, to be developed by the consortium during the project, was also on the agenda.
Over the two-day meeting, participants had the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge on the topics under discussion, achieving results deemed “very positive” for the development of the project’s next phases.
In addition to NOC Portugal, the GRASS project includes the NOC’s of Albania and Slovenia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bulgaria, and three expert organizations in sports safeguarding: Sportieq (Belgium); Universitat de Vic, Universitat Central de Catalunya (Spain); and Qantara Sports (Portugal).
