2024 Safe Sport International Conference Report is now available
January 27, 2025The Safer Grassroot Sports project participated in the Kick-off Meeting of the Erasmus+ initiative “Strengthening Response Mechanism for Safeguarding in European Sports” (SAFE HARBOUR) on January 28–29 in Brussels. This event launched the project, bringing together 27 key partners, including National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Federations (IFs), and expert institutions dedicated to improving safeguarding in European sport.
The meeting covered crucial safeguarding topics, European and global strategies, and relevant regulations. Interactive sessions allowed NOCs and IFs to share best practices and challenges, while technical discussions ensured a structured project approach.
Safer Grassroot Sports contributed to discussions on grassroots safeguarding strategies. The project aligns with SAFE HARBOUR’s goal of mapping existing practices, identifying gaps, and establishing a European response framework. It also supports training programs to build capacity among stakeholders.
A major milestone will be the creation of the European Network for Safeguarding in Sport (ENSS), a digital platform for collaboration and best practice sharing. National Multiplier Events will also raise awareness and extend the project’s reach.
Safer Grassroot Sports remains committed to implementing effective safeguarding measures, aiming to empower organizations and individuals with the tools and knowledge needed for a safer sports environment in Europe.
