Newsletter #3 released!
June 3, 2025The Safer Grassroots Sports (GRASS) Project, co-funded by the European Commission, concluded its workshop tour across Europe with a successful fourth and final session hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the workshop brought together representatives from Bulgarian grassroots sport clubs for a hands-on session with the project’s two central tools: the Safe Sport Self-Assessment Tool and the Safe Sport Digital Toolkit. These resources are designed to support clubs in evaluating and improving their safeguarding practices, ensuring safer sporting environments for all participants.
As with the previous sessions in Slovenia, Albania, and Portugal, the workshop allowed club representatives to explore the tools in detail, complete individual evaluations, and participate in open discussions about their applicability and potential challenges. Feedback gathered during the session will directly inform the refinement of both tools ahead of the project’s final phase.
The workshop was led by Bruno Avelar Rosa and Bruno Bidarra (Qantara Sports), with continued support from the coordination team: Cristina Almeida and Joana Gonçalves (Olympic Committee of Portugal).
With all four national workshops now completed, the GRASS Project team will start the analysis of the test sessions’ outcomes and move forward with improvements on both project tools. In the meantime, on the field of play, participant clubs will focus on the implementation of a set of actions in order to present their best practices during the upcoming national events later this year.
